I have been a very bad blogger this spring - please forgive my absence! We have just been so busy that it's been tough to find the time...but no excuses right? So let's start here...Dawn & Joe on April 19th. They didn't actually get married on April 19, we just took some fun photos and had a great party at the St. Louis Zoo! They were married in Mexico...I really need to get in on some beach wedding gigs so I can come back looking like this! The whole family returned to St. Louis relaxed, tanned and beautiful ready to celebrate. They had animal greeters at the door - a fox, oppossum and owl to be exact. Owl pictured below...he looked really mad at me for taking his photo. I'm guessing witness protection program. The zoo offers animal adoption and the couple adopted a flamingo in remembrance of Dawn's father Tom. The favors were flamingo lollipops with tis meaningful note attached. More tropical details included luminaries and bright colored table cloths and centerpieces. I have two take aways from this evening I will never forget...by far the most spastic dancer of my wedding photography career goes to the best man who is also the brother of the groom. Wow. :) He can really get the dance floor going! And DJ Mark actually knew the ENTIRE Thriller dance. AND had people who actually tried to follow along...including the brother of the groom as previously mentioned. :) Congrats Dawn & Joe! It was a blast!

The complete Trash the Dress Experience is here!

The complete Trash the Dress Experience is here!
We are offering limited dates throughout the summer of 2008 for trash the dress photo sessions. You love that dress, so put it back on and let your hair down this time!
What is Trash the Dress (otherwise known as TTD in blog circles)?
It’s a chance to play dress up in your favorite dress one more time and do things you wouldn’t have done on your wedding day for fear of dirt. We are not going to rip it, burn it or destroy it…you might get a little dirty and a little wet. Who am I kidding – A LOT wet! But nothing that your top notch dry cleaner can’t handle.
We are the only place in town offering the complete TTD experience.
We have Lavish Salon (St. Louis Fashion Week master stylists) to provide hair and makeup for the shoot and Becky Huffman Flowers to design you a custom bouquet. Then we’re off to take fabulous photos for a couple of hours around town.
If you know anyone who has gotten married within the last year and may not have preserved their dress yet, please forward this opportunity along!
2008 Trash the Dress Dates (morning and evening sessions available):
June 22
June 29
July 13
July 20
August 10
August 24

To book, email your date preference to info@lphotographie.com and Liz or Kristie will get back with you.

Spring is in bloom (by liz)
The short few days that we call the spring "season" is here! At least I think it's spring...it is 39 degrees outside as I type this. Not to mention it nearly snowed yesterday. But all of the trees and bulbs are in bloom, if only for a short while. I love it when I actually have a chance to shoot during the two weekends these beautiful blooms grace us with their presence. I had a great engagement session with Jessica and Joe last weekend in Forest Park. People were out on blankets, with cameras, strolling down the paths, flying kites and just enjoying the gorgeous weather. Joe decided that he wanted to go with a sort of scruffy look and Jes wasn't so sure that was the right approach, but they just look great together. I think that it toally works on him...take a look!

An Intimate Evening (by liz)
Most of the events I photograph are grand affairs filled with hundreds of friends and family gathered together to celebrate marriage. But love doesn't have to be grand in scale to be sweet and touching. Just this last weekend, I was witness to an intimate & lovely ceremony at the St. Louis Club. About 15 family members looked on with teary eyes as their loved ones vowed to care for each other for the rest of their lives. No matter how many times I see this, it amazes me that I still find myself close to tears. It is so easy to become jaded by life, but when I see sons & daughters genuinely touched and absolutely overjoyed that their parents have found love, I can't help but stop for a minute and soak it in. Congratulations to Sal & Nicole...thank you for allowing me to capture your wedding day.
